Join Us for Lunch with Legendary Journalist Terence Smith on Feb. 18

Terence Smith

Be sure to reserve your spot for the upcoming luncheon on Friday, Feb. 18, when famed print/broadcast journalist Terence Smith will entertain the press club with stories from his almost five decades in the news media.

Having worked at three top global news outlets, published a book about his career in journalism, and won numerous awards (including Emmys, a Peabody, Pulitzer nominations, induction in the Society of Professional Journalists’ Hall of Fame, among others), Terence truly is a legendary journalist.

He has been a political reporter, foreign correspondent, editor and TV analyst during a decades-long career that included the New York Times, CBS News, and the Newshour on PBS.

Terence is the author of the new book, Four Wars, Five Presidents: A Reporter’s Journey from Jerusalem to Saigon to the White House. His memoir recounts his extraordinary career covering everything from the inner workings of the White House to four wars and stories drawn from the daily lives of people in 44 countries. He also provides a first-hand account of the evolution of journalism from print to digital.

Dan Rather writes, “What a life Terence Smith has lived! This is an adventure story of a reporter’s career, well lived, well told, big hearted and chock full of great stories.”

Terence was a colleague of two of our own press club board members, Bob Orr of CBS and Gregg Ramshaw of PBS, who arranged for Terry to visit Naples. As a longtime Annapolis resident, Terence is good friends with our board member Tom Marquardt, former publisher of the Capital Gazette of Annapolis. Be part of the magic when these media all-stars are reunited at our press club event.

If you’d like to purchase a copy of Terry’s book to bring with you to the luncheon for him to sign, you are welcome to use a special discount to save 30% by purchasing online at his publisher’s website at rowman.com.
