Scholarship Recipient Elected Editor of Literary Magazine

Camila Cal

Camila Cal, University of Central Florida, Class of 2022, has been elected by her peers to the position of Creative Nonfiction Editor for the school’s literary magazine, Cypress Dome. In her own words: “I’m so excited that my classmates voted for me, because I really wanted the position. I’m also going to be a copy editor for the magazine. We’re working on the Editor’s Edition of the magazine as practice with submissions before putting together the actual magazine in the spring.”

One of her pieces will be published in the Editor’s Edition. Check out the website: www.cypressdome.org

Camila is an eager scholar whose writings in English show us what a non-native speaker can accomplish. A native of Uruguay, Camila learned Spanish as her first language. She will build an excellent future in some area of journalism, and being bilingual will certainly help. She shows gratitude for the press club’s support with scholarship funds. It is my honor to serve as Camila’s mentor.
