KC Schulberg

Our Program VP Randy Jones made my job easier by writing a Naples Daily News “Business Class” column about our November program presenter, KC Schulberg. Since KC has already approved this copy, I’m going to use it as our promotion for the November 21 luncheon meeting. Note: this is one week earlier than usual.

KC Schulberg – Whether preordained or not, KC Schulberg has enjoyed a prolific career in the family business. His grandfather, B.P. Schulberg, produced “Wings,” the first film to win the Best Picture Oscar, in 1927.His grandmother, Adeline Schulberg, was Hollywood’s first female talent agent. His father, Stuart Schulberg, was an independent producer/director and executive producer of “The Today Show” for 10 years. His uncle, Budd Schulberg, was the Oscar-winning screenwriter of “On the Waterfront” starring Marlon Brando.

Prior to forming his own production company in 1998, Schulberg served as Worldwide Production Supervisor and then Sr. VP of Worldwide Marketing for New York-based Hallmark Entertainment, a preeminent producer of television mini-series and movies.

Moreover, a childhood visit to the set of the 1958 film “Wind Across the Everglades,” written by his uncle and produced by his father, set in motion a lifelong affection for Southwest Florida.

As a relatively new resident of Naples, KC Schulberg now hopes to bring his personal cinematic vision to life by producing several films in the area. His first project, “A Dream Last Night” based on a short story by Budd Schulberg, is scheduled to begin shooting in Southwest Florida in the spring of 2014.

According to Schulberg’s longtime friend, writer-director-producer David Paulsen (“Dallas,” “Dynasty,” “Knots Landing”), “There is a lovely, magical quality about KC. He’s a true producer—he has a dream and he finds a way to get it done.”

We’ll congregate at 11:30 at Hilton Naples on the third Thursday. We’ve had a small bump in pricing for our luncheons from the Hilton, which we must pass along. For those paying at door with cash, check or credit card (if we can get the dang device to work!) prices are $25 for members, $28 for spouses. General public price is $30 plus a processing fee, and they must pay in advance using Eventbrite/Pay Pal It may also be found if you click on Eventbrite then search for Press Club of Southwest Florida events.

Keep in mind that these charges for an outstanding program and a delicious meal are far less than most such events in Naples. Our programs alone are worth the price!
