Three High School Graduates Are Chosen for Press Club Scholarships

Three Collier County 2020 high school graduates were recently interviewed by the scholarship committee and chosen for Press Club of Southwest Florida 2020-21 $1,000 renewable journalism scholarships. Please join us in congratulating these scholarship recipients:

Megan Brown, St. John Newman High School, will attend Elon University in North Carolina.

Lexi Paloma Holt, Gulf Coast High School, will attend American University in Washington, D.C.

Sebastian Clarke Weatherford, Gulf Coast High School, will attend Florida State College in Leland, Florida.

Seven other scholarship students currently in college will continue to receive the annual press club $1,000 renewable journalism scholarships:

  • Camila Cal (Naples High School graduate attending University of Central Florida)
  • Meghan Kennedy (Naples High School graduate attending Saint Leo University)
  • Sebastian Languidey (Naples High School graduate attending Florida Atlantic University)
  • Brianna Monroe (Marco Island Academy graduate attending University of Florida)
  • Janie Morgan Palmer (Naples High School graduate attending Florida State University)
  • Kala Parkinson (Barron Collier High School graduate attending University of Florida)
  • Rachelle Westervelt (Seacrest High School graduate attending University of Florida)

Two press club scholarship students will graduate from college in 2020: Tamica Jean-Charles, Florida International University-Miami and Maria Munguia-Cortes, Wartburg College, Iowa
