October 25th Luncheon ~ All About $$$

Discussions about Millionaires and Billionaires in the public arena are all over the airwaves and have certainly peaked interest in the role of money in our country.

This month we have an opportunity to learn about the upper class first-hand when author John Hazard Forbes talks about his book, “Old Money America: Aristocracy in the Age of Obama.”

Forbes is well qualified to address this subject. He is a Mayflower descendant and an Ivy League graduate. The Forbes’ name is listed in “Burke’s Peerage.” The Hazards are found in the first-ever social register.

Additionally, his 30-year career as an art expert and appraiser gave him unusual entrée into the homes and lives of the old rich. In his lectures Forbes discusses how the old rich got rich, how they stay rich, and their tribal habits of speech, manners and dress. He also traces the declining power and prestige of the upper class as it relates to modern society.
