Please join us in congratulating press club member Sean Martinelli, whose segment Story2Share on NBC2, has won a national Edward R. Murrow Award.
Sean was featured on the Today Show this week while he was in New York City to accept his award. He shared that he had been at the morning show several times as a child and teen, forcing his family to wake up at 4 a.m. to drive to the city.
Sean’s series, which he launched in 2018, has won eight Emmy awards, and this is his fifth Edward R. Murrow award. The segment airs following the 6 p.m. newscast several nights a week and has been a huge hit.
As Sean explains on his website, he created the segment to “shine a light on ordinary folks doing extraordinary things in my community.” The goal, he says, is “to be a carrier of light in a sometimes dark media landscape. My hope is to use television as a platform to illuminate the best of society. And, ultimately, I want to live a life that opens people’s minds and hearts.”
In 2020, Sean was the winner of the Young Journalist Award from the Press Club of Southwest Florida. The judges praised Sean for his superb researching, writing, filming, editing, and producing of each episode of his Story2Share series.
