Focus on Local TV News: Join Us for Roundtable Taping March 2

Don’t miss our next Roundtable coming up at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 2, when we take a hard look at some of the critical issues facing broadcast media.

Our guests will be three local television news managers: Tom Doerr, WINK News Director; Sarah Zak, FOX 4 News Director; and Tim Klutsarits, NBC-2 & ABC-7 Assistant News Director.

The news executives will field questions from three of our member journalists: Delia D’Ambra, Frank Cipolla, and Judd Cribbs. In addition, we have invited some of Cribbs’ Florida Gulf Coast University communications students to take part in the Zoom taping.

We anticipate a free-wheeling discussion that spans the TV news landscape as we tackle topics ranging from fake news to the increased competition posed by the explosion of social media. We will discuss staffing needs and the challenges faced by multi-media journalists who now have to deal with 24/7 deadline pressure.

I will moderate the Zoom call, which is open to all members of the Press Club of Southwest Florida. If you’d like to attend the live taping, please email me at boborr21@gmail.com, and I will send you a Zoom invitation link.

As always, the Roundtable will be shared on the Club’s YouTube channel. Click here to view the most recent Roundtable featuring Bill Barker discussing the future of local newspapers.
