Gregg spent more than 30 years as a television news producer in Washington, D.C. For 21 years he was a news editor and producer of “The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour” and its successor, “The NewsHour” with Jim Lehrer. In 2000, he was Coordinating Producer for Election Coverage. Among his assignments over the years were: Coverage of Operation Freedom from Command Headquarters in Qatar; Production of a 10-part documentary series on the People’s Republic of China; and covering the 1973 Senate Watergate hearings and Nixon impeachment hearings. Prior to joining “The NewsHour” in 1983, he was a senior producer of “The Lawmakers” for WETA-TV; assignment editor for ABC News; and Washington correspondent for Chicago Today and the Chicago Tribune newspapers.
