Press Club Pays Tribute to Sean Martinelli at Media Mixer

The Press Club of Southwest Florida paid tribute to board member Sean Martinelli at a farewell media mixer held recently at the Florida Repertory Theatre, downtown Fort Myers.

President Julie Pedretti thanked Sean for his years of membership in the press club and his service the past year on the board of governors. She presented him with a heartfelt farewell card and a bag of gifts.

Sean, who has inspired viewers across Southwest Florida for six years with his uplifting segments, “Stories2Share,” now takes his positive vision and creativity to Washington, D.C., where he has accepted a position with CBS-affiliate WUSA. In his new job, he will produce segments similar to “Stories2Share,” where he will continue what he calls “sharing stories of hope and heart.” Creating these inspirational segments is what Sean calls his “calling” and he told attendees at the media mixer that he knows he will never go back to covering hard news, such as “fires, crime, or politics.”

Sean thanked members of the press club for believing in him and supporting him through the years. He said he always recommended that his young colleagues at Waterman join the club, so they, too, could benefit from the “wisdom” press club members can offer, particularly from those who had impressive successful media careers and are now retired and living in the local area.  “They want you to feel like you don’t have to be afraid to ask for advice,” Sean noted, adding, “they were always more than willing to help.”
