Your Board In Action

Julie Pedretti, President

When the Press Club of Southwest Florida Board of Governors met on January 9, we welcomed two new members:

Mark Young, who stepped into the role of Vice President of Programs, and Rachel Pierce, who serves as a Governor-at-Large.

Mark brings many years of experience as a television producer, and Rachel is an early-morning anchor at NBC-2. We are fortunate to have a board comprised of individuals with years of experience and contacts that help our club grow and bring compelling “newsmaker” program ideas.

We know that some of our more than 160 members are unable to attend our traditional lunch programs, so we will once again offer evening social events. Mark your calendar for May 22 for our first social, which will be held at Seasons 52.

Our April program will be an evening reception, rather than a lunch, and will feature Adam Lashinsky, Executive Editor of Fortune Magazine. The April 5 program promises to be a big draw for our members and for others in the business community. Be sure to sign up early, when reservations are open, as space is limited.

It is an election year and the Press Club of Southwest Florida will be involved in and will help sponsor a number of candidate forums and debates.

Connie Kindsvater, our Journalism Student Scholarship Program Chair, is leading efforts to again promote our scholarship, with a March 30 deadline for applications. See Connie’s article for additional information.

If you have an interest in being involved on a committee, such as programs, fundraising, communications or membership, please contact me or reach out to one of our board members.

Our contact information is listed on our website. We’d be pleased if you would share your expertise with us to continue to grow the Press Club of Southwest Florida.
