James Duffy, who held the title of president of ABC Television Network for an unprecedented 15 years, will kick off the 2011 Luncheon Program.

Following his 46 year career in TV and radio with ABC, Duffy now devotes his time and efforts to public and community service, using the powerful reach and influence of broadcasting.
As co-founder of the celebrated Project Literacy U.S. (PLUS) with the Public Broadcasting Service in 1985, he was also the national spokesperson for that initiative until his retirement from ABC in 1995.
The recipient of many awards for his work in literacy and education, he was given President Reagan's Volunteer Action Award in 1987; in 1996 was honored with the National Literacy Coalition's highest recognition, The Lifetime Achievement Award at a ceremony in the nation's capitol; and in April 2004, The Broadcasters' Foundation Pioneer Award.
Duffy is currently associated with many organizations in the broadcasting and literacy fields and, more recently, with emerging technology companies.
In 2002, his book "The Wind in the Trees" – a candid, poignant and often humorous story of his personal life and his many years in broadcasting – was published.
