Biographical Info
Debbie Meade enjoyed a distinguished 32-year career in the newspaper business, 30 of those at The Roanoke (Va.) Times, Southwest Virginia's largest daily newspaper, and roanoke.com, its news website. Hired as a reporter in 1983, she rose through the ranks in the newsroom and then on the business side, including serving as Advertising Director before becoming President & Publisher in 2007.
She retired in 2013 and now divides her time between Roanoke and Naples.
A leader in the Roanoke community, Debbie serves on the boards of United Way, Smart Beginnings Greater Roanoke, the Taubman Museum of Art, and volunteers in the city schools.
She also enjoys writing, painting, tennis, traveling, and being a grandmother to her two young granddaughters.
