We regret to inform you that, because attendance for our September 10 Newsmaker Luncheon has not reached the level needed to make the event financially viable, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the program. We believe the low attendance is largely because we scheduled the program earlier than usual. The Press Club typically begins its season in October or November, when most of our seasonal members have returned to Naples.
We are grateful to everyone who registered and committed to attending. We also deeply appreciate our panelists’ willingness to share their personal experiences and reflections on the September 11 attacks and their lasting impact on journalism and our country.
Because our remaining Newsmaker Luncheons this year are already committed to other programs, we are working to reschedule the 9/11 panel for Thursday, January 14, 2027. We will share additional details once the new date is confirmed.
Anyone who purchased a ticket for September 10 will receive a full refund. Karla Wheeler is in the process of working with Eventbrite on the refund.
The next Newsmaker Luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, October 8, at Vi Bentley Village. Details to follow shortly.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support of the Press Club of Southwest Florida. We hope you will join us when this important program is rescheduled.
Sincerely,
Tom Doerr
President
Press Club of Southwest Florida
