I am pleased to announce the election of Dave Maksymetz as treasurer of the Press Club of Southwest Florida. Dave was approved by the Press Club Board of Governors at our meeting on September 11. He replaces Bill Butler, who served as treasurer for nearly two years, before stepping down for personal reasons.
Dave has an economics degree from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Wayne State University. He has been in the finance industry for 30 years and is Investment Manager and Senior Vice President of Truist. His volunteer positions include serving as treasurer and chairman of the board for Turning Point, a nonprofit in Michigan supporting survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault.
As a resident of Naples for more than 10 years, Dave served as vice chair for the Shelter for Abused Women and Children and was treasurer of the volunteer board of REVS Institute (cool, old cars – owned by Collier family). Dave is an avid consumer of news and is interested in the changing landscape of media and journalism (news vs. opinion). He has missed board involvement and looks forward to serving the Press Club as treasurer.
On behalf of the Press Club, I wish to express my gratitude to Bill Butler for his years of service.
When you have a chance to meet Dave at our upcoming programs, please give him a warm welcome!
