Monthly Meeting Schedule: No Meeting May 7
We were so sorry to have had to cancel the April lunch meeting and again so disappointed that we will not be able to hold our lunch meeting and program on Thursday, May 7. It is our hope that we will be able to meet at Tiburon Golf Club on Thursday, June 4, where the likely topic will be hurricane season, which is quickly coming upon us. At the June 4 meeting, we also hope to celebrate our current and future Press Club Journalism Scholarship students.
The May 14 meeting of the Press Club Board of Directors will now be a Zoom call. If you have any items for discussion for your board, please send a note to me at jpedretti29@gmail.com or call or send a text to 414.861.3077.

Additional Thoughts about Press Club Founding Member Jack Mehaffey

As you read last week in Scoop, John Allen “Jack” Mehaffey, one of the founders of the Naples Press Club (now the Press Club of Southwest Florida), passed away on April 8, 2020, at 83 years of age. Two club members who knew Jack reached out with their thoughts, which we share here.
Phil Beuth, member of the Press Club’s board, shares, “Many of our newer members will not remember Jack Mehaffey, one of our outstanding Naples Press Club personalities. His life was certainly full, not only in business success, but his work with the less fortunate had no limits. He welcomed me to the PC as though I was an old friend, and always was ready to jump into our activities, adding a spark and a smile. I will always remember that great red jacket, and a fine man.”
And long-time member and our Press Club’s Scoop and website resource, Sandy Reed, shares this: “So sorry to learn about Jack’s passing. He was an amazing person — so kind, thoughtful, sweet and generous.“
