Q: What can YOU do to support our aspiring journalists?
A: Donate funds!! Now! If you make a tax-deductible donation before the end of the year, an anonymous Press Club donor is matching donations up to $1,500. That $3,000 will support three students for a year!
Q: How many future journalists/scholarship students does the Press Club support?
A: It depends on the amount in our Scholarship Fund. The Press Club Scholarships are $1,000/year per student. Currently, we’re supporting 10 students. Two students will graduate next May.
Q: What are Press Club members doing to help support our Scholarship Fund and enable the Press Club to continue giving at least two scholarships/year?
A: For the past four years, Press Club member Phil Beuth (founder of Good Morning America) has been a heavy lifter for the Press Club Scholarship Fund. His $20,000 pledge has been met. His funds supported five students/year! The anonymous donor’s matching funds, resulting in $3,000, support another three students! To be able to continue 10 scholarships/year, we need more donations from more members. The Press Club of Southwest Florida (formerly the Naples Press Club) has over 150 members. So far this year, only 12 members have made a personal donation to our Scholarship Fund. If each member donated something, small or more, that would help enable our club to continue scholarship support for future journalists.

A: Write your check to Champions for Learning with “Press Club Scholarship Fund” in the memo line. Mail the check to either:

You’ll then receive a Tax Donation letter from Champions, a 501(c)(3) entity.
