Join us on Thursday, May 3, 2018, 11:30 AM

Press Club of Southwest Florida Luncheon at the Tiburon Golf Club

Collier County Honor Flight is a 100% Volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created solely to transport America’s war veterans, at no cost to them, to Washington, D.C., to visit and reflect at the memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices. The next local Honor Flight is Saturday, May 5. Our May 3 newsmaker guests are:

Walter “Wally” Dugan: For the first time, Wally will be on the upcoming May 5 Honor Flight. In 1945, Wally served with the Marines during WWII in China. After WWII, he became an NCO and training instructor at the Cleveland Armory. Soon after, he was deployed to Korea where he fought in one of the bloodiest battles, the Chosin Reservoir. During the Vietnam War he served as trainer at Camp LeJeune until 1977 when he retired. Today, Wally Dugan presides as the President of the SW Florida Chapter of the “Chosin Few.”

Dr. Stephen Wener:  For the past 21 years, Stephen has had the honor and privilege to have served as a primary care physician at the Lee County VA Healthcare Center in Cape Coral. He regards his role as guardian/volunteer on numerous Honor Flight DC trips as among the highlights of his professional career.

Joel Banow: Joel served in the U.S. Army 1953 to 1957, with postings at Ft. Riley, KS; Ft Monmouth, NJ; and Seoul, Korea. Joel has over 50 years in broadcasting as a director at CBS News, CNBC and WGCU Public Media. He was the first news director to receive a Directors Guild of America award for his directing of the CBS coverage of the first lunar landing. A member of the Press Club of Southwest Florida, Joel was on the October 2017 Honor Flight and will be sharing a short video presentation.

Dr. Debi Lux: Along with her husband, Sean Lux, Dr. Debi founded the Collier County Honor Flight organization. She is a retired general dentist who moved to Naples in 2012.  She is involved in and has been on the board of many professional associations as well as non-profit organizations. Her passion lies with serving our American Veterans.
