NPC Invites Scholarship Applicants

Connie S. KindsvaterThe Press Club of Southwest Florida invites scholarship applications from Collier County high school seniors heading to college or Collier County high school graduates currently in college who plan to pursue a career as a journalist or photojournalist in print, electronic or broadcast media. A major qualification is a passionate devotion to the field of journalism/media as a career.

Press Club of Southwest Florida members are asked to encourage students known personally to apply for a scholarship.

Requirements: at least a 3.0 GPA from the student’s high school or college, will attend or currently attend an accredited college/university, be a full-time student and major in the overall journalism/media communications field.

Any student interested in applying for a scholarship should request an application from Connie Kindsvater, chair of the NPC Scholarship Committee, by calling 249-4969 or emailing conskind@aol.com.

The deadline for applying is April 15, 2015.

The application process involves sample writing, teacher references, grades transcript and a letter to the Scholarship Committee explaining the student’s desire to pursue a career in journalism. Upon review of the application, the committee will select qualifying students to interview; scholarship recipients will be notified, with graduating seniors receiving the awards at their respective high school’s honor night in May.
