Presented in a question and answer format and moderated by Allen Bartlett from the Naples Daily News, the Press Club of Southwest Florida (NPC) is hosting School Board Candidates Erika Donalds and Kathy Ryan at the NPC October Luncheon.
The event is open to NPC members, their guests and the general public. The luncheon will take place on Thursday, Oct. 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hilton Naples, 5111 U.S. 41 N. in Naples.

According to NPC Vice President of Programs Randall Kenneth Jones, “As our goal is always to provide a benefit to our members and our community, we are pleased to present this politically themed discussion—just days before the November election. Assuming this event is well received, the Press Club of Southwest Florida hopes to expand our programming to explore more topics impacting the growth, development and overall health of Southwest Florida.”
Erika Donalds
Erika Donalds is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and works as Controller and Partner at DGHM, a New York-based investment management firm. She is the founder and President of Parents R.O.C.K., “Parents’ Rights of Choice for Kids,” a nonprofit focused on uniting parents and providing representation for parent and student interests on state and local education issues. She also serves as an Advisory Board Member for Mason Classical Academy, a Hillsdale College public charter school, and is the West Coast Coordinator for Florida Parents against Common Core. She and husband Byron have lived in Naples for 12 years and have three sons.
Kathy Ryan
Kathy Ryan has lived in Southwest Florida for 44 years. She worked for the Collier County School District for 30 years as a teacher, counselor and administrator at the middle, high school and district levels. Twenty-eight years were spent in Immokalee, nine years at the middle school and 19 at the high school. Ryan also spent six years in Michigan as a teacher and counselor at two different high schools. A Detroit native, Ryan has a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Michigan State University as well as a Doctorate in Educational Administration from Florida Atlantic University.
The cost for the luncheon is $25 for NPC members and $28 for their guests. General admission is $30.
