Special Membership Encore Event

In lieu of the regular January luncheon, Press Club of Southwest Florida Members are invited to a special luncheon featuring broadcast giants, ABC’s Charles Gibson and CBS’s Phil Jones.

As correspondents, Gibson and Jones used to compete with each other on Capitol Hill. With an arsenal of stories and anecdotes at their disposal, Gibson and Jones will sit down together to answer questions in a Q&A that promises to redefine the concept of what it means to have “war stories” to tell.

Space is extremely limited so please RSVP today to rsvp@naplespressclub.org. Cost is $25 for members and $30 for significant others. Please, no other guests.

OR Click Here to pay via credit card or Paypal.

Because we’ll need to rent special AV equipment, the cost will be $25/member and $30/non-member. The program is definitely worth the extra $$.

Charles Gibson is a retired ABC News television anchor, host and journalist. He was a host of Good Morning America from 1987 to 1998 and 1999 to 2006 and anchor of World News with Charles Gibson from 2006 to 2009.

Gibson’s career spanned from 1965 to 2009, with beginnings as the news director for Princeton University’s student-run radio station, a radio producer for RKO, and a reporter for local television stations. In 1975, he joined ABC News, where he worked as a general assignment reporter and correspondent from Washington, D.C., until becoming a host of Good Morning America in 1987. He held that position until 1998, but hosted the show again from 1999 to 2006. Gibson was the anchor for World News with Charles Gibson from 2006 until he retired in 2009.

Phil Jones spent 32 years as a correspondent at CBS News, prompting Andrew Heyward, then President of CBS News to comment: “He is our very own Indiana Jones – an intrepid correspondent eager to go after the next big story and bring it back alive.” A former Washington correspondent, Jones joined the network’s news service in 1969 as a reporter. During his tenure, he has covered major stories including Watergate, the Iran-Contra hearings, President Ford’s re-election campaign and the 1976 Republican Party Convention. He has been a correspondent for 48 Hours and the network’s evening news show. Jones is a full-time Naples resident and an NPC member.
