Carole Greene has every right to be proud.
Not only is she a founding member of the Press Club of Southwest Florida, but she has written over 1,000 articles for a range of well-known local, regional, and national magazines. With an entire income built upon her free-lancing success, Carole has not only left her mark in the journalism world: She has helped define it.
Born in Anderson, Indiana, she began her journalism career as a humor columnist for the town’s local newspaper. With some of her editorials broadcasted on television, she migrated to Florida in hopes of establishing a career in free-lancing. And established she did.
At the time of her move, several magazines covered the Southwest Florida region, and Carole made sure all of them knew her name. She eventually wrote for each one, and also contributed articles for one of the region’s largest dailies, the Naples Daily News.
“I lived on what my writing brought in. Making my way in a tough career brought me satisfaction and a bit of pat-myself-on-the-back pride,” she said.
But Carole deserves a little more than a pat-on-the-back for her contribution to the writing world. Along with an established free-lancing career, she decided to embark upon a fresh, more literary path: Books. Carole has written several books as a ghost-writer, author, or co-author, and has edited close to 50 published works. In 2008, she became a literary agent, and although she still represents her existing clients, she remains dedicated to her own writing and book-editing projects.
“I am pleased to see the growth in membership and status of the club. Who knew, 15 years ago, that we’d be where we are today?”
And it is because of members like Carole Greene that NPC continues to prosper.
