NDN President/Publisher at November 17 Luncheon

Dave Neill was named the Naples Daily News president and publisher and a regional publisher for the newspaper division of The E. W. Scripps Company in June 2010.He came to our local newspaper after serving as general manger of the Bonita Springs Banner and was promoted to vice president and general manager of NDN in 2007.

His most consuming recent job was the management and installation of the NDN’s new office and production facility completed in 2009.
 
A discussion of the state of the newspaper business and how it impacts the state of the NDN will highlight his speech, a summary of the annual report he has given to corporate management. He could also touch on the recent physical changes at the paper including new fonts, type faces and alignments.

More about Dave Neill:
Neill’s newspaper career has taken a lot of twists and turns at a number of different newspapers. From photography to pre-press production manager in Arizona; to overseeing the transition from analog printing to a fully digital color process in Michigan; to advertising sales work at the Kansas City Star; and by 1993 associate publisher of the Detroit Jewish News and Style magazine.
 
In 2004 he became vice president/advertising for the Journal Newspapers which later became the Washington Examiner, and was contracted as publisher of Washington Jewish Week, serving the greater Washington D.C. area.
 
This outstanding, diverse,  newspaper career was inspired by a job as a high school photography intern at the Detroit News in 1979.
 
Neill serves on the boards of the Naples Chamber of Commerce, YMCA of the Palms and is a member of the Bonita Springs Chamber of Commerce. He is also a long-standing member of the National Press photographers Association.
